Abstract: Global increases in problems of illicit drugs both reflect and contribute to international tensions. The origins of some of these tensions are clear: rapid changes in political alignment, reduced family and community cohesiveness, increased unemployment and underemployment, economic and social marginalization and increased crime. At a time when dramatic improvements are taking place in some sectors, e.g. communications and technology, improvement of the quality of life for many people has fallen far short of the potential that exists and the rising expectation of people who know life can be better. Drug abuse has a wide- ranging, severe impact on individuals, families and society as a whole, encompassing physical and mental health issues strained, relationships, financial problems, and an increased risk of legal troubles and violence. Physical health Consequences Long -term drug abuse can lead to a variety of debilitating health problems, Including. *Organ Damage, infectious Diseases, Cancer, Mental health Disorders, Cognitive Impairment, Behavioral Changes etc.

The purpose of education has long been a subject of philosophical inquiry, evolving in response to societal, cultural, and technological transformations. This paper examines major philosophical perspectives on education including idealism, realism, pragmatism, existentialism, constructivism, critical theory, and humanism and analyzes their relevance to contemporary society. Drawing on classical texts by Plato, Aristotle, Rousseau, and Kant, as well as modern scholarship by Dewey, Freire, and Giroux, the study explores how different philosophies conceptualize the roles of learners, teachers, and society, and how these frameworks influence curriculum development, pedagogy, and policy. Contemporary debates regarding the purposes of education are also discussed, emphasizing four key dimensions: preparation for economic productivity, cultivation of global citizenship, support for personal growth and identity, and development of digital-age competencies. The analysis demonstrates that no single philosophical perspective sufficiently addresses the multidimensional demands of 21st-century education. Consequently, the paper argues for an integrated or hybrid approach that draws upon the strengths of multiple philosophies, combining moral and intellectual development, experiential learning, active knowledge construction, social justice, and holistic personal growth.

Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) is a growing concern among college students due to excessive screen exposure from academic and personal device usage. Symptoms such as eye strain, dryness, blurred vision, and headaches impact concentration and productivity. While behavioural adjustments like screen breaks are commonly advised, ophthalmic exercises offer a potential low-cost, non-pharmacological alternative. This study assessed the effectiveness of structured ophthalmic exercises in reducing CVS severity among college students. A quasi-experimental, pre-test, post-test control group design was conducted among 60 students aged 18-25 years with confirmed CVS (CVS-Q score >=6), purposively sampled from computer-based disciplines. Participants were randomly assigned to intervention (n=30) and control (n=30) groups. The intervention group practised six ophthalmic exercises--palming, blinking, eye rolling, visual scanning, focusing, and glancing--three times daily for eight weeks. Data were collected using the CVS-Q tool at pre-test, post-test I (4 weeks), and post-test II (8 weeks), and analysed using SPSS v23.0. Repeated measures ANOVA and chi-square tests were used to determine effectiveness and associations. The intervention group showed a significant reduction in CVS scores from 8.23 to 3.87 and 2.93 over time, while the control group's scores remained largely unchanged. The group-by-time interaction was statistically significant (p < 0.001). CVS severity was also significantly associated with gender, VDT exposure duration, and years of computer use. The results suggest that ophthalmic exercises are effective in reducing CVS severity. These exercises can serve as a practical intervention to reduce digital eye strain among students

John Keats's "Ode to a Nightingale" remains one of the most influential works of English Romantic literature. The poem explores the tension between human suffering and the desire for transcendence through imaginative escape. The nightingale's song becomes a symbol of poetic immortality in contrast to the speaker's awareness of life's fragility. This paper examines major thematic elements such as mortality, imagination, melancholy, aesthetic beauty, and negative capability. Through close textual analysis, the study argues that Keats presents an unresolved yet productive conflict between transience and transcendence, capturing the essence of Romantic poetic consciousness.

The number of vehicles on the road is increasing very fast, so we need smart systems to monitor traffic in real time. This paper explains a method for Real-time Vehicle Detection and Speed Estimation using machine vision. The system can automatically detect, track, and calculate the speed of vehicles without using costly sensors like IR sensors. The process has a few main steps: detecting the vehicle, tracking its movement, and then calculating its speed. The speed is found by measuring how far the vehicle moves in pixels over time and converting that into real distance using a calibration factor. This system is reliable, scalable, and low- cost, making it useful for traffic police, road safety, and intelligent transportation systems (ITS). It shows that machine vision can replace traditional sensors in real traffic monitoring.

The growing mismatch between academic engineering education and industry requirements has emerged as one of the most silent yet severe crises of modern society. Although engineering remains a popular academic choice, graduates often struggle to meet real-world expectations due to outdated curricula, non-functional laboratories, and limited exposure to practical learning. The study concludes that bridging this gap is vital not only for employment but also for national progress and the psychological well-being of students. In today's society, studying engineering has almost become a default path--if a student scores good marks, everyone assumes that success lies in this direction. But the enormous gap between what colleges teach in theory and what the industry actually needs has now turned into one of the deepest and most silent crises of our time. In many colleges, labs don't function, machines are outdated, and the syllabus cannot keep pace with the changing world. As a result, no matter how much students memorize, they discover after entering real work that invisible gaps remain in their learning.

Derek Walcott's Dream on Monkey Mountain explores the psychological and spiritual decolonization of the colonized mind through the staging of the dreams and delirium, particularly in the experience of Makak and his surreal dream journey. The non-linear episodic structure mirrors the disorientation of the colonized mind and reflects the fractured identity of postcolonial subjects. Ultimately, Walcott's play shows that the true liberation involves embracing one's cultural root, memory, and also myth to claim psychological and spiritual freedom.

The automation of weighbridge operations at New Mangalore Port (NMP) has brought about significant strategic and operational improvements, positioning the port as a model for digital transformation in India's maritime sector. This case study investigates the effects of automation on key performance metrics, including transaction time, error rates, and cargo throughput. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study integrates quantitative analysis of ERP data and key indicators with qualitative insights drawn from stakeholder interviews and process mapping. Findings reveal a 62% reduction in average transaction time, an 85.7% reduction in error rates (from 6.3% to 0.9%), and a 22% increase in cargo throughput following automation. The integration of IoT-enabled weighbridge platforms with the ERP system enabled real-time data capture, automated documentation, and seamless information flow--reducing manual intervention, improving compliance, and enhancing operational transparency. These outcomes not only streamline port logistics but also support better forecasting, traffic management, and regulatory reporting. Furthermore, the case aligns with India's broader digitalization goals under the National Logistics Policy and the Sagarmala Programme, offering a scalable model for other Indian ports. The study highlights the importance of structured implementation, stakeholder engagement, and data-driven evaluation in achieving digital maturity within the port infrastructure ecosystem.
