 Abstract

Scene text recognition on outdoor signboards, particularly in Indian languages, is a crucial application of deep learning with broad implications for navigation, automated translation, and accessibility. Despite advancements, challenges such as lighting variations, occlusions, distortions, and complex backgrounds hinder accurate text extraction. This study presents a deep learning-based framework for text signage recognition and translation, specifically tailored for Indian languages. The proposed methodology involves a multi-stage approach, including data preprocessing for noise reduction and contrast enhancement, feature extraction using a Feature Pyramid Network, and text recognition through a Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory network. A hybrid Convolutional Neural Network - Recurrent Neural Network model is employed to classify and convert extracted text into a machine-readable format, followed by translation using transformer-based models trained on parallel Indian language corpora. This system aims to enhance multilingual text recognition and real-time translation, contributing to improved accessibility and navigation for users across diverse linguistic backgrounds.

 Abstract

Deepfake technology is a modern and sophisticated technology that has eventually eradicated the fine line between being real and fake. It is an evil approach with the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to make the unreal look real. Deepfake has its impact which has taken the turn of cybercrime across the country and the world as a whole. The victimisation of individuals to the trap of deepfake approaches has hiked which needs to be taken into serious concern. Here, we are going to discuss about deepfake crimes in India and the need for a necessary legal structure in the country to regulate deepfake crimes. We will also look into certain approaches by other countries to combat the same.

 Abstract

Language is the primary medium of expression, communication as well as cultural transmission. It allows us to convey thoughts, emotions, and ideas, enable meaningful interaction and collaboration. Stories, songs and rituals are preserved in linguistic form, maintaining cultural heritage and identity. The significance of language extends far beyond mere words, as it shapes our thoughts, influences our interactions, and forms the foundation of society. Indian OTT platforms reflect the country's linguistic diversity and serve a wide cultural flavour by producing content in regional languages such as Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and others. Dialogues, idioms, and slang enhance the relatability and believability of characters and stories with a touch of creativity. Slang can enhance the emotional impact of a conversation. It gives dialogue more force and authenticity, especially in dramatic or heated situations. The research illustrates how characters use language to assert dominance, control, and resistance within the narrative framework, often mirroring real-life socio-political power struggles. An aspect of the study is to focus on the portrayal of gendered vulgar language as a reflection of power dynamics and social hierarchies. Such portrayals can influence audience attitudes toward gender roles, perpetuate potentially harmful stereotypes, and justify abusive behaviour. Through a qualitative content analysis approach, the study will identify and categories examples of such kind of vulgar words used in content. This research paper is designed as descriptive research which primarily aims to study gendered slang and hate speech uses in different Indian OTT platforms. To achieve the objective, a survey of audience will be conducted. While acknowledging the importance of creative freedom, the study promotes responsible content creation that thoughtfully considers the possible consequences of inappropriate language. The research findings highlight the need for an understanding of the influential impact of using those words in creative narratives and call for a balanced approach to content regulation on OTT platforms.

 Abstract

When a person sits in front of the computer, the webcam captures real-time footage, displaying a small green box at the center of the screen. The system processes the objects or gestures within this box, and upon successful recognition, a red boundary appears, confirming identification. The recognized object or gesture can then be used to control the mouse pointer by dragging it across the screen. This approach enhances computer security while enabling a virtual computing environment. Instead of physical objects, hand gestures will be used to perform various functions--one gesture for moving the cursor, another for right-clicking, and a different one for left-clicking. Similarly, specific gestures can be used to execute keyboard functions virtually, eliminating the need for a physical keyboard. If the system detects a valid gesture, the red border appears, while an unrecognized input simply keeps the green box visible.

 Abstract

In this research, we will explore various signal quality assessment techniques and sparse compression algorithms for efficiently compressing and reconstructing quality Aware Electrocardiogram (ECG) signals. The inherent sparsity of ECG signals allows for significant data reduction, which is crucial in applications like wearable health devices (BAN's), remote patient monitoring, and long-term ECG data storage. We will implement and evaluate a range of sparse compression techniques, including Compressed Sensing (CS), Wavelet-Based Compression, Dictionary Learning, Matching Pursuit (MP), Orthogonal Matching Pursuit (OMP), and Run-Length Encoding (RLE). To maintain uniformity each algorithm is applied to an ECG signal with a sampling frequency of 100 Hz segmented with one-minute duration. The performance of these methods is assessed by calculating the compression ratio and analyzing the quality of the reconstructed signals. Furthermore, we will investigate the possible practical deployment of these algorithms on embedded systems, specifically using a Raspberry Pi and an Arduino board. The algorithms are implemented on these platforms to assess their energy efficiency and feasibility for real-time applications. By testing the algorithms on Raspberry Pi and Arduino, we evaluate the computational performance and resource requirements, providing their suitability for deployment in resource-constrained devices. Finally, demonstrate the efficiency of these sparse compression techniques in reducing data size while maintaining the essential features of the ECG signals. The reconstructed signals are compared to the original and filtered ECG data, offering understandings into the trade-offs between compression efficiency and signal fidelity. This study contributes to the ongoing development of compression algorithms in biomedical signal processing, particularly for resource-constrained BANs.

 Abstract

Nanoparticles are materials with unique properties due to their extremely small size, typically ranging from 1 to 100 nanometers. Nanoparticles are very small materials, typically measuring between 1 and 100 nanometers, which give them special properties that aren't found in larger materials. Their small size and large surface area make them unique, allowing them to be useful in many different fields. In this overview, we explore the basic structure and types of nanoparticles, such as metallic nanoparticles, polymeric nanoparticles, lipid nanoparticles, and carbon-based nanoparticles. These particles are often categorized based on their material, shape, and size, which can affect how they behave and interact with their surroundings. These features make nanoparticles useful in a wide range of areas, including medicine, electronics, and environmental science. To better understand and measure nanoparticles, scientists use various techniques such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), dynamic light scattering (DLS), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). These tools help scientists examine their size, shape, and surface properties, as well as their stability. Nanoparticles are made using different methods like chemical vapour deposition, sol-gel techniques, and both top-down and bottom-up approaches, each offering specific benefits in controlling their size and shape. They are used in many applications, including drug delivery, diagnostic tools, cancer treatment, energy storage, environmental clean-up, and sensors. With on-going research and innovation, nanoparticles are becoming increasingly important in improving technology, sustainability, and creating new solutions in various industries.

 Abstract

Abstract: Background: Single-parent households are increasingly common, and their impact on children's development has been a subject of extensive research. While single parents often face unique challenges, including financial strain and increased household responsibilities, their children's academic outcomes are not universally negative. This study aims to investigate the relationship between study habits and academic performance in children from single-parent families. Method: A sample of 150 students from single-parent households studying in class X was recruited from various schools in Garo Hills region. Data were drawn by using scale on study habit and academic report card were used to generate data for the study. To accomplish this, the researchers employed survey method as a research design Results: No significant differences were found in overall study habits between children from single-parent and two-parent households.
