 Abstract

This analysis explores the performance and strategic role of large-cap, mid-cap, and small-cap mutual funds, alongside long-term equity and gold trends, to guide effective investment planning. Notable funds such as Nippon India Large Cap, Motilal Oswal Midcap, and Nippon India Small Cap exhibit strong risk-adjusted returns, as indicated by high Sharpe ratios and alpha values. Cost- efficiency, demonstrated by lower expense ratios in funds like ICICI Prudential Bluechip and HDFC Midcap Opportunities, further enhances investor gains. While large-cap funds provide stability, mid and small-cap funds offer higher growth potential, albeit with increased volatility-- necessitating alignment with individual risk profiles. Diversification, including a 10-15% allocation to gold, adds portfolio resilience due to gold's historical performance during economic crises. A disciplined strategy involving Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs), regular portfolio rebalancing, and goal-aligned investing supports sustainable wealth creation over the long term.

 Abstract

Microfinance has become an important instrument for promoting financial inclusion, poverty reduction, and women's empowerment in developing economies. In India, microfinance plays a crucial role in addressing the financial exclusion of marginalized communities, particularly women who often face limited access to formal banking, institutional credit, and productive resources. Karnataka has witnessed notable expansion in microfinance activities through Self-Help Groups (SHGs), banking institutions, cooperative organizations, and livelihood programmes. This paper examines the role of microfinance in women empowerment in Karnataka from a theoretical perspective. It explores the broader scope of microfinance beyond credit by highlighting savings, insurance, remittances, and financial services that support low-income households. The study discusses the contribution of SHGs to financial inclusion, livelihood generation, entrepreneurial participation, and decision-making among women. Although microfinance has enhanced economic participation, savings behaviour, and social awareness, challenges such as financial literacy gaps, market limitations, and institutional barriers continue to influence programme outcomes. The paper argues that sustainable women's empowerment requires integrated support systems involving digital finance, entrepreneurship training, policy support, and institutional collaboration.

 Abstract

Soil and plant debris represent important ecological reservoirs supporting diverse fungal communities involved in organic matter transformation, nutrient cycling and interactions with plants. The present study was conducted to investigate the occurrence and diversity of soil and plant debris associated fungi with emphasis on taxonomic composition and functional significance. The investigation revealed a diverse assemblage of fungal taxa associated mainly with soil, leaf litter, plant residues and decomposing organic substrates. The recorded fungi represented ecologically important genera including Trichoderma, Fusarium, Bipolaris, Chaetomium, Curvularia, Phoma, Nigrospora, Pestalotiopsis, Epicoccum and other saprophytic groups. The identified taxa exhibited diverse ecological functions, including organic matter decomposition, nutrient transformation, plant association and antagonistic potential. Soil-associated fungi such as Trichoderma spp., Fusarium spp. and Aspergillus spp. reflected the complex microbial interactions occurring within terrestrial ecosystems, whereas litter-associated fungi contributed to decomposition processes through colonization of plant residues. The study highlights the diversity and functional importance of soil and plant debris associated fungi and provides baseline information regarding fungal communities involved in terrestrial ecosystem processes.

 Abstract

Sara Aboobacker's Kannada novel Chandragiriya Teeradalli (1981), rendered into English by Vanamala Viswanatha as Breaking Ties (2001), reaches its anglophone readers only after passing through at least two acts of cultural translation: the novel's own original work of making the specific social world of the Beary Muslim community of the Dakshina Kannada-Kasaragod coast legible within Kannada literary culture, and the subsequent work of Viswanatha's English translation in carrying that already-particular world across a further linguistic threshold. This essay argues that the translator's visible choices -- what is retained in its source-language form, what is glossed, and what is smoothed into more generic English phrasing, beginning with the title change itself from a place-name to an abstract thematic phrase -- are not incidental to the novel's feminist critique of triple talaq and patriarchal authority but constitute a form of cultural argument in their own right, determining how much of the Beary community's regional specificity survives translation versus how readily the novel is absorbed into a generic, homogenizing narrative of "Muslim women's oppression." Reading Breaking Ties against Susan Bassnett's and Lawrence Venuti's translation theory, and against the documented case of the novel's contested Malayalam translation, this essay traces the risks and responsibilities of English as the primary route through which regional-language Indian feminist fiction reaches a wider readership.

 Abstract

The present study analyzed the impact of social media advertising on online shopping intention by integrating psychological constructs such as perception and attitude. A quantitative research design was adopted and primary data were collected from 420 respondents with structured questionnaire administered through web survey. The study employed multiple regression analysis to evaluate the relationships among variables, with social media advertising, perception and attitude as independent variables and online shopping intention as the dependent variable. The findings from this study had revealed that all the three predictors have significantly influenced online shopping intention, with attitude emerged as most influential factor. The results underscored the importance of cognitive and behavioral dimensions in determining consumer decision-making in digital environments. The study contributed to obtainable literature by providing empirical evidence based on established theoretical frameworks and offered practical implications for marketers in designing effective social media campaigns.

 Abstract

Since the 1940's ,the literary scene in Assam changed due to the cross-connections of multiple innovative ideas re-introducing the emerging concepts of modernism all over the world. Hiren Bhattacharyya, Nilamoni Phukan, Navakanta Barua, Homen Borgohain were the pioneers of Modern Assamese Poetry influenced by the poetic conventions of Baudelaire, T.S.Eliot, Ezra Pound and Rilke. In the modernist background. This paper examines the modernist vision embodied in the poetry of Hiren Bhattacharyya, one of the most influential voices in Assamese literature. Focusing on the period of post-colonial transformation in India, the study explores how Bhattacharyya's works challenge conventional poetic forms and language, reflecting the socio-political and cultural shifts of his time. Through an analysis of his use of free verse, symbolism, and avant-garde expression, this paper argues that Bhattacharyya's poetry marks a significant departure from the classical, traditional styles of Assamese verse. The study delves into the modernist themes that permeate his work, including existentialism, human struggle, societal disillusionment, and the break-down of established norms. Additionally, it examines how Bhattacharyya's unique voice and innovative use of language reflect the broader modernist impulse towards individual expression, fragmentation, and the exploration of identity in a rapidly changing world. The paper further investigates his influence on contemporary Assamese poetry and positions his contribution within the larger context of modernist literary movements both in India and globally. By focusing on specific poems, this research paper highlights the profound impact of Bhattacharyya's work on the evolution of Assamese poetry, offering insights into how modernism reshaped literary traditions in Assam.
